Titanic Lost
In the early morning hours of April 15th, 1912, the RMS Titanic sinks after striking an iceberg late on the evening of April 14th. More than 1,500 souls either drown or dies due to the frigid 25 degree temperature of the North Atlantic. It is the first time the SOS distress signal is used. The ship The California races to the scene rescuing some 900 plus men, women and children. The last survivor of the Titanic tragedy died last year at the age of 98.

President Lincoln Dead
Nearly nine hours after being shot by actor and southern sympathizer John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln dies of his head wound at 7:22 a.m. surrounded by several members of his cabinet. His wife Mary, is too distraught and is in another room nearby.
