June 19th Holiday

It was on June 19, 1865 that General Gordon arrived in Galveston, Texas, bringing with him the news of the Emancipation Proclamation. And on June 16, 2021, a bill was passed by the House of Representatives to make Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating June 19, 1865, a federal holiday and sent it on to Biden for his signature.
